Course Description:

Mitchell Course on the Future of Television, as part of the John H. Mitchell Future of Entertainment Initiative.

This course covers specialized, advanced issues of current interest to transactional lawyers in the television and digital industries.  The topics change from year to year.  In spring 2021, the course will focus on the then-current linear and digital television trends.  Guest speakers will be invited to speak on areas of expertise, including agents, auditors, talent and studio lawyers, studio executives.  Particular attention will be accorded hotly debated issues like transparency, enforcement issues and the like. The course will be graded on the basis of a final exam and class participation.

Course Learning Outcomes:

The television businesses is in the process of radical transformation and students will become familiar with the tectonic changes ahead.
