Course Description:

This seminar will help prepare students to defend clients charged with crimes, especially in difficult or controversial cases. It explores how, why, and when injustices arise and develops tools to assist students in evaluating assertions of innocence and maximizing their chances for eliminating or reducing injustice both in individual cases and more broadly through law reform.

Course Learning Outcomes:

Students will be knowledgeable regarding the many ways criminal justice systems result in injustice, will improve their skills at critical thinking, and will be better situated to represent those impacted by the criminal justice system.
