Faculty listed in alphabetical order – please see faculty specific description for requisite information.
General Course Description:
This course examines the United States Bankruptcy Code and the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure. Areas of emphasis are: financing, operating and administering debtors’ estates; treatment of executory contracts and leases; formulation and confirmation of plans of reorganization; and the avoiding powers of the trustee in bankruptcy. The focus of the course will be business bankruptcies, and little or no attention will be given to the treatment of the consumer debtor. The material covered in this course can serve as a solid introduction to bankruptcy both for those who are considering specializing in the area and for those who do not plan to do further academic work or practice in bankruptcy, but are interested in general business or commercial law.
