General Course Description:

Taught in conjunction with Advanced Real Estate Transactions, the Real Estate Law Clinic is a year-long clinical course offering students practical, hands-on training and experience working on live real estate transactions involving the development of affordable housing.  Students in the clinic will represent one or two non-profit organizations at various stages in the process of developing affordable housing for low-income residents of Los Angeles.  Through both classroom instruction drawing upon practice-oriented readings, case studies and simulated exercises, as well as clinical work representing non-profit clients, students will learn to apply the concepts of Advanced Real Estate Transactions in a real world context and acquire skills required by a modern transactional real estate practice.

Course enrollment is limited to six to ten students by consent of the instructor.  A resume and short statement of interest (one to two paragraphs) should be submitted via email to Lance Bocarsly (lbocarsly@bocarsly.com) by no later than July 9, 2013.  Concurrent or prior enrollment in Advanced Real Estate Transactions is required.  In the fall semester, students will earn 3 units for 1.5 hours per week of course instruction and 6 hours per week of clinical work.  In the spring semester, students will earn an additional 3 units for 1 hour per week of course instruction and 8 hours per week of clinical work.  The course will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
